The Black Monks are friendly affialiates of The Facless. This means that they are not actually members, but more like allies.
The reason the Monks have not chosen to join the ranks of the organization is because all of have taken a vow of non-violence, and are never armed. They are allowed to fight in self defense, but only when a fight is absolutely unavoidable.
Instead, they are healers and guiders, using plants, spells, and the elements to fix both spiritual and physical wounds.
Their constant gaurdian is the Voodoo God Loko, the patron loa of plants and healers. Loko can only communicate with those who are strongly sensitive to the spirit world. In order to communicate with the living, he often uses a human vessel, usually Tiki. But the vessel can be any monk that has been trained to accept foreign souls into his or her body- this process takes several years of hard training, and requires a lot of energy.
Since Loko is an Earth God, this means they must be fully in tune with nature. To accomplish this, and avoid a life of meterialism, they live in an underground cave system buried in the forest around the organization's main complex. They have vowed never to speak of its location, and always play ignorant when asked of its existance. In return, The Faceless have agreed to supply food and any other supplies the monks may need.
They are idenitified by their symbol-
a simple black infinity sign
